Getting to know Kaitlyn

Favorite activities
  • Eating. Little Miss Piggy loves to eat, boob juice, bottles, solids of all sorts, she just loves them all
  • Playing with Dada, she loves "flying" and all the silly things dadda tries to teach her

Guilty Pleasures
  • She sucks her thumb, but will have all her fingers opened while sucking the thumb, so it looks like she's covering her face, or poking her eyes.

Ambitions (at the moment)
  • Trying to get those toes into her mouth

Favorite Books
  • her glittering numbers book. She recently mastered turning the pages.
  • she also likes her nursery rhymes flash cards
Favorite song
  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Likes
  • Drooling,
  • eating, playing with her feet,
  • screeching/screaming, a LOT

Dislikes
  • Going to sleep,
  • tummy time,
  • sudden loud noises

Favorite Outfit
  • anything she can chew the sleeves off.
  • (although, she hates wearing anything on her head and her feet. Unfortunately as she doesn't have hair, she has to wear a beanie most of the time, but it's getting increasingly difficult to keep it on her)

Favorite Toy
  • Her feet,
  • her rattles,
  • other people's faces

Newest Tricks:
  • Standing with support,
  • parroting words (she says mamma, dadda, and a couple of Chinese words),
  • last night, she learned to make "guns" with her fingers.
  • She reaches her arms out for hugs. She laughs a lot now.

Emerging Personality:
  • She is quite curious all the time, and when you teach her new things, she watches you intently and then tries to do it herself when you are not watching.
  • She craves attention and hates it when no one is looking at her and paying her attention. She squeals with displeasure when she's left alone for too long.
  • She loves to be outdoors. She always has the biggest smile on her face when we put her on her pram.
  • She loves posing for photos

6 months measurements

Oops, forgot to post about her measurements earlier:

Head circumference: 42cm (up 8cm from birth)
Weight: 7.4kg
(up 4kg from birth, our scale is bit dodgy, so she may be slightly less than 7.4kg)
Height: 68cm
(up 17cm from birth)

So yeah, she's grown heaps...wearing size 0 and size 1 outfits now...

Happy half-birthday, Kaitlyn!

Kaitlyn's 6 months old yesterday! She's grown so much since her newborn days.

I am flat out at the moment, trying to study, travelling to and from classes 2 nights a week, unpacking/keeping the room reasonable livablely neat, entertaining an overactive baby that screams all the time and does not sleep at all during the day, and no more than 3 hours each time at night, and this week, trying to get a couple of assignments finished in time... the list just never ends and I am just so TIRED all the time. All I wish is to sleep for more than 3 hours... but the bad thing is even if baby does not wake me up, my body automatically wakes up on the dot, ever 3 hours!! WTF...

Anyways, here's some new things Kaitlyn is doing:
  • standing while holding onto the back of her high chair (not for very long though)
  • I can see 2 little tooth buds in her bottom gums
  • occassionally she will sleep without being rocked... very occassionally
  • she has more hair on her head now, still mousy blonde
  • she still has no eyebrows, actually she does, but the eyebrows are very blonde so you can't see them against her skin
  • she is eating rice cereal, avocado and applesauce
  • she spins and wiggle around in circles (slowly) when put on her back
  • she flips from tummy to back more often now, still does not like to roll... I have a feeling she may start walking before she'd likely to crawl
I will post some new photos after next week... hopefully I will get the assignments done.

oh, and we are STILL BREASTFEEDING!!! Woot. :)

6 Months growth spurt, swollen gums and lethal poos

I knew I'd jinx myself when I wrote about Kaitlyn's sleeping through the night. The last 3 nights she's been very fussy, and waking every frigging HOUR at night. And she does not nap during the day at all, we'd be lucky to get 2 x 30 minute naps the whole day. I don't get it, with that little sleep, how is she still so happy all the time??!! I certainly don't feel as energetic. I figured, it's probably her 6 months growth spurt hitting us... hope it goes away soon!

Her bottom gums are a bit swollen... Maybe, just maybe her teeth are coming?? Maybe?

I don't quite understand how such a small person that she is can produce such large quantity of lethal poos with toxic fumes that easily clears a room in 0.000000001 second flat. She keeps topping herself on just how stinky she can get LOL. It's funny to see her expression everytime we change one of those nasty nappies. She giggles and smiles, as if she's totally enjoying watching us shrivel up in disgust...

Sleeping through the night? Maybe?

I know I am probably jinxing myself now that I am writing about it. The last few nights have seen steady improvement in Kaitlyn's sleeping patterns. She will have 2 to 3 short short naps during the day, then after 8pm, sleep. She fusses between 8 to 10:30pm, but once 11ish o'clock rolls around, she's likely to sleep till the next morning. Last night, she slept from 10:30pm to 7am!! I was so impressed.

She's been playing with her feet a lot, they are her new toys. And she sits up without support,so very well

She loves to tear up junk mail and store catalogues. :D Go girl...

And she does the "horn"!

She now tolerates tummy time, although still bit impatient

We dressed her up yesterday :)

Teething Bites

This whole teething business is so painful for all concern. Kaitlyn's been teething for MONTHS now... and still no sign of any tooth! She's been so cranky lately. She will play and be all happy, then will scream and cry for no apparent reason. She doesn't nap anymore during the day. We'd be lucky if she naps for 30 minutes once or twice a day. It makes trying to get things done around the house, and studying, virtually impossible.

On the upside, she's sleeping longer stretches at night. When she eventually goes down for the night, she generally sleeps to early morning, between 4 to 7. So can't complain here.

I just wish these darn teeth will make an appearance soon so she's less cranky.
